Post race life has been a super stiff and ache one.
This morning I rolled out of bed with a groan. Old Sarah would've said, "day off!" But, focused Sarah knew that this stiffness needed a good shakeout run.
It Took me a little longer than usual to get out the door this morning. Luckily, it was relatively cool out and there was a nice breeze. I knew today needed some musical motivation so I charged up the old ipod shuffle and shuffled my way out the door.
The plan was to hop on my Masi, bike to the trail(20 min.), run 3 miles and come on home. I plan to take the next two days off from running while I have a little mini vacation up at Lake Winnipesaukee (Yippie!). My knee was definitely struggling, the bike ride I thought would help warm it up a bit, maybe it did? The ride definitely took my mind off of it. One song in particular shuffled onto my playlist really set my mood. Feelin' Fine By: Classified The song came on very serrendipitously. It was perfect and helped me set the tone for my morning. Don't you love when that happens?
***Please just play the song, feel the music... I don't think the music video does it justice.

So, I'm on my bike, summer breeze, and I'm feelin' fine. What a beautiful day.
I got to the trail to start my run - and oh my goodness, HOLY SOREDOM!
I took my first few strides and quickly questioned if running was a good idea.
As I trotted on it got a little better and based on this I decided to continue.
Sometimes you just got to run.
As I got into a rhythm I channeled back to the song...
I wasn't feeling particularly GOOD, but I was feelin' fine. Fine enough to keep going. I was proud of myself for going 3 miles. I could've so easily not run, or maybe just done a mile or two, but I went for three. This was a small victory in my day.

My bike was still locked to the tree where I left it (another victory)... I was sure to take the time to stretch before hoping back on. As I hit the road I was definitely a bit tired. I'm so fortunate(Don't know if that is the best word choice) to be able to have this time in my day to do something for myself. To be outside! I know a lot of people say they don't have time to workout. Time is based on priorities and I understand that sometimes there are more important things going on in the life. However, it is important that you make doing something for yourself a priority. It doesn't have to be working out or going for a run... it should be anything that makes you feel like you. Lately I have been feeling more and more like me I want to be.
For right now the me I want to be doesn't involve knee soreness... So, with that said I'm going to rest/ice my knee and enjoy the next few days swimming, kayaking, and relaxing with my wonderful boyfriend and my family up at Lake Winnipesaukee. I hope that all of you have been able to get some me time in over this long celebratory weekend.
